The Brand
Pure Monoï of Tahiti is a product of Polynesian tradition and is used throughout the year to hydrate, nourish and repair skin and hair. In order to support the local culture and economy, Hei Poa® still use the traditional Tahitian natural process to make Monoï Oil. Pure Monoï of Tahiti is manufactured in Tahiti by traditional methods; Tahitian coconuts are left in the sun to dry, when ready they are cold pressed to extract the oil ensuring the highest quality, then Tiare flower blossoms are added (at least 10 per litre of oil) and left to soak. By adding passionate fragrances such as Frangipani, indigenous to the island, they truly give you a little piece of Tahiti in the bottle.Hei Poa® remains packaged in the old style medicine bottle, as it originally started. Along with these quirky bottles, the colourful and vibrant labels emulate its Tahitian origins. Considered daring when launched, the style has lasted through times of change and still remains a firm favourite with those who are in the know.
Recent scientific studies have shown Monoï Oil to be much more effective than other natural vegetable oils when it comes to re-hydrating and providing protection to the skin and, unlike other oils, it will not leave the skin feeling greasy nor clog the pores.
The Range
Over the years, with much research and development, the Hei Poa® range has grown to include additional Monoï-rich products including shampoo, shower gels and sun care products to name but a few. In their extensive dealings with the Polynesian island, Hei Poa® have found other beneficial oils with healing and enhancing qualities such as Roucou and Kemeri Tamanu which, when blended with the Monoï, give even better skin conditioning and protective qualities.
The Founders
Hei Poa® was founded over 20 years ago by a French husband and wife team. Inspired by the beautiful Tahitian women and their daily beauty rituals of using Monoï Oil, this pioneering team created a product line based around the versatile beauty oil to protect the hair and skin – it was through Hei Poa® that Monoï Oil was introduced to France. Introduction to the French market was no mean feat as it is a country renowned for loyalty to its existing brands and a nation very particular as to what products they will use. Hei Poa® soon became a cult brand within the French market as a product that is used regularly on adult and child alike to protect their hair and skin. This is truly testament that Hei Poa® has proved itself as a reputable skincare brand for everyone.
