The name says it all... funky folklore and fluorescent colours set the tone in the Kitsch Kitchen collection - utensils, picnicware and various household accessories that are not just kitchen bound! Kitsch Kitchen is the result of what happens when you fuse Dutch design with Mexican folklore... it’s time for neon lights and plenty of colour!
History
Founded in 1994, Kitsch Kitchen has remained true to its "street market" roots providing bright and cheery homewares with quirky contemporary designs. The products are not only synonymous with Dutch living but also feature an element of Mexican folk art; in honour of the small family industry who manufacture their wares in Mexico.Their first retail location was a small stall on the Noordermarkt, Amsterdam. The stall was such a success that only one year later, the first Kitsch Kitchen store opened its doors for business, which was closely followed by Kitsch Kitchen Kids, right next door, in 1998. As the stores thrived, demand for expansion was again of paramount importance. In March 2003 the two original stores were merged into one big shop, the birth of the Kitsch Kitchen Supermarket!
Since then the company has continued to grow with several retail stores opening over the last few years in key locations throughout Holland. However, one thing has remained the same, the original sewing workshop in Mexico still continue to manufacture their goods. The workshop also started small but it too has expanded and currently works fulltime on Kitsch Kitchen designs.
